I spent a whirlwind three days and two nights in Kuala Lumpur. We arrived midday and I headed straight to crossfit where I got my ass kicked, and I met some really great people. After crossfit, V and I caught a taxi to the house where we were staying. We decided that we wanted to save money and have a new experience and so we tried couch surfing in KL. Couch surfing is this amazing organization where people offer extra rooms or couches for free to travelers. We found our house, put down our stuff, and then our host took us out for some local Malay food. After some amazing rice and chicken we went into the city for some drinks and dancing.
The next day we woke up early to make the most of our one day trip in KL. We went the Batu Caves and then bought a ticket for the hop on hop off tour. On our way home we were outside the house, looking for the keys and talking when a police car pulls up. They roll down their window, ask if anything is wrong, and then asked to see our passports. Thank god we were right outside the house because I didn’t have my passport on me. They made me stay outside while V ran into the house to grab it. They were very friendly and once they verified our legality, expressed their disbelief of my age, and flirted with us then drove off. (We now think they just wanted to hit on us)
Our one day in KL happened to be thanksgiving. V was so thoughtful and bought me Oreos with peanut butter. It was really hard to be away. Thanksgiving is my favorite family holiday and when I skyped them it was hard to keep my emotions in check. It’s funny sometimes how the universe works. I was having a hard time on thanksgiving, yet I got a coffee for a third of the regular price, I got up graded to first class for my flight, and the seahawks won. We did almost miss our flight though and spent a good 5 minutes sprinting down the airport; thankfully making our flight just in time.
Pretty amazing pictures! ๐
